In Greece, a new party swept to power in recent elections. Their promise was an end to the austerity measures that cripple the Greek economy and terribly hurt the Greek population. They essentially promised to breach the contracts that previous democratically elected governments had signed.
Now they have to manage the expectation of the electorate to alleviate hardships without any power to do so in the international arena.
They promised the impossible. Now they run into a dead end road.
They misled the people.
How can democracy work if voters have no clue to judge the realism of a political party’s promises?
Does democracy remain the best model if most voters are uneducated?
