However, in our daily life we do not live up to our ideals.
We discriminate.
The other day, discussing the absurdity of the Italian ex-prime minister Berlusconi and his sex scandals among guys, a bunch of us where laughing. No one stated disgust. A friend just returned from an exotic country telling how he saw a ‘team building event’ where a company boss invited his guys to a weekend of fun with girls. No one took issue with exploitation of sex workers.
Friends of mine who have kids tell with pride how their boys are becoming ‘real boys’ with a solid feeling of superiority to girls.
Colleagues of mine are seeking lunch dates with the cute female contractors; no one is seen lunching with the less appealing ones.
A friend of mine went on missions to a branch office of ours. When he went alone before, no one organized any evening activities. When two cute females came along, it was party every night.
In my view, absolutely nothing has changed. The modern narrative is formally repeated but not acted upon in daily life.
Lately, populists are thriving on saying politically incorrect things, making xenophobia, homophobia and racism more acceptable again.
Back to the basics?
We want to be with beautiful people who are like us. Worldwide.
I fear for the ones who do not fit. Only a few of them thrive due to high merit and make it become elite.
Caveman and cavewoman are still going strong.
How modern are you (really)?
