Nature tries to accumulate surplus. That will ensure survival if spring is late. Bees will gather as much nectar as possible to make as much honey as possible to feed the queen and the next generation. We will always eat more than we need today, to accumulate because who knows about tomorrow. In our modern times that makes many people obese. We also try to accumulate more money that we need. It’s the nectar of the modern world of humans. Greed, it is called when it s bankers, prudence otherwise. Wealth ensures we can overcome difficult times such as losing a job, or surviving a bad harvest.
When is it too much? Few of us need to ask ourselves this question.
When we ask it, it s about others who have more. We suspect we have less because they have more. Nonsense except in a few cases. In the last 15 years, 1000 million people have left poverty. Even in old rusty Europe, most have more. Just that a few have MUCH more, wealth inequality is on the rise. We feel it is injust.
Do you live better than your parents and grandparents lived?
Most people I know say yes. Most statistics say yes.
