I have done a mere 1000 km so far. I have signed up with two energy providers. Newmotion, who is a broker between actual providers and individual drivers, and Fastned who run their own fastcharging network mainly in The Netherlands.
For my 1000 km I have paid about 40€ in electricity. My employer provides free charging for the moment, otherwise it would have been about 80€. With my old car, the 1000 km would have needed about 90 litres of petrol or 135€. Next to that I have paid no road-tax which would have added another 100€ to my bill so far. 80€ against 235€ is not a bad start.
So far, I have never been below 200 km of remaining battery range and never spent time waiting to charge as I charged at night time on my street or during working time at the office.
I have not done any road trips so far and have not left The Netherlands where we have a superior charging infrastructure. I will report on how road trips will challenge me and how easy I will recharge in close by countries. Using the Tesla supercharger network for free, it should be very easy. Everywhere around new charging stations are being built, including fast chargers. I will see and I will report.
